The Success of Jamie Gold in Poker & in the Entertainment Industry
The poker public knows Jamie Gold as one of the best professional poker players. But those who are not involved in the poker industry also know who Jamie Gold is. This is mainly because of the fact that he is also involved with the entertainment industry as a television producer as well as a talent agent.
Jamie Gold is more popularly known in the poker world as the guy who won in the main event of the 37th Annual World Series of Poker. The poker public could not believe it when he was awarded US$12,000,000 as his prize winnings for that particular game alone. The poker player that he last defeated was Paul Wasicka. During the entire game, Jamie Gold was eating blueberries at the poker table. And when he won the game, he jokingly explained that blueberries turned out to be brain food and claimed that those blueberries were the reason for emerging victorious.
Prior to such victory, Jamie Gold already had several notable victories. On April 23, 2005, he won first prize in a No Limit Hold'em game featured at the Stars and Stripes tournament wherein he was awarded US$54,225. He did not emerge very victorious when he joined Stars and Stripes' Pot Limit Hold'em event but nonetheless, he had the chance to cash in the money.
In the same year, Jamie Gold participated in other poker events that allowed him to have more money finishes. Some of the tournaments he participated in were the Heavenly Hold'em tournament, the Mini Series tournament, the Larry Flynt's Grand Slam of Poker 2005 tournament, and the National Championships of Poker tournament.
In 2006, Jamie Gold participated in Winnin' O the Green and Sport of Kings events wherein he successfully reached the final tables. All these achievements have most definitely enhanced his skills which allowed him to be successful at the 37th Annual World Series of Poker.
Before Jamie Gold became hooked in the professional poker industry, he was already engaged in the entertainment world. As early as sixteen years old, he was already working for J. Michael Bloom & Associates Talent Agency. He was an intern at the said talent agency. He eventually became a talent agent before he reached twenty one years old but eventually shifted to management and production.
Born on August 25, 1969 in Kansas City, Missouri, Jamie Gold's real name is Jamie M. Usher but it was legally changed to Jamie M. Gold after the divorce of his biological parents. His mother then asked him to use the surname of her current husband, Robert Gold. Jamie Gold obtained his bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Albany and attended the University of California Los Angeles to take up entertainment law.
